IMDG Updates and Changes

Not too long ago, IMDG Code New changes were made to the IMDG Code.

The amendments made will not alter the dangerous good certification issued by Lloyd’s Register.

These amendments will include the following:

Part 1. New definitions and provisions for lamp carriages containing dangerous goods.

Part 2. A variety of updates made to the classification of substances.

Part 3. Plenty of updates to the Dangerous Goods List. This includes the dividing Colum 16 (stowage and segregation) in an effort to provide more details regarding the requirements of Part 7. Additionally, an amendment of special provisions SP 961 to provide clarity on the shipment of combustion engines, fuel cell engines and battery-powered engines.

Page 4. Amended packing instructions, these amendments include provisions for radioactive materials and portable tanks.

Part 5. Revised marking, transportation, and placarding documentation requirements.

Part 6. New provisions for UN pressure receptacles, and updated packing and transportation requirements for radioactive materials. A more durable marking requirement for various portable tanks.

Part 7. A new code of lists for handling, segregation, and stowage of dangerous goods. Additionally, instructions to prevent counterfeit refrigerant gases.
