Why OSHA Supports Third Party Consulting Companies

      • Categories OSHA
      • Date March 23, 2015

Since 1970 when OSHA was established, the American workforce has dramatically changed.

Their regulations and standards have helped the number of workplace fatalities reduce by more than 65 percent. Occupational injury have also dramatically decreased by 67 percent.

Compare these numbers with the rate of U.S. employment and you begin to see just how important OSHA is to the workplace.

Despite the improvements, in 2013 federal OSHA conducted over 39,000 inspections and 18 states choose to do inspections that totaled to nearly 50,500. A major portion of these companies receive citations for their workplace conditions.

This fact shows just how much work is yet to be done within the workplace.

However, third party consulting companies can dramatically alter the course of workplace safety. As we can see, even the states by themselves outshined the amount of inspections done by the federal OSHA.

This shows room for improvement. Third party consultation companies can assist OSHA in conducting more inspections and increase worker safety.

Not only do these companies assist in inspecting various facilities, they also offer helpful guidance to help make them OSHA compliant and a better place to work.

This reduces fines to the companies and keeps workers safe.

Although many businesses feel that OSHA is only in existence to fine organizations, the truth is they benefit not only the individuals working for companies but also the company owners themselves.

Making sure a facility is OSHA compliant reduces the risk of lawsuits from negligent death or work related injuries. Also, when companies work side-by-side with consulting companies OSHA takes note of it and are appreciative of those who do so.

Often times, OSHA will even reduce fines by up to 20% for companies who chose to reach out to third party consultation firms. After all, their mission is to help make America a safer place to work.

Have you considered reaching out to an OSHA consulting firm prior to your next inspection? If so, you may reap the rewards. At TCA we have a number of solutions to help you with your compliance and OSHA training. Contact us today or give us a call 855-637-9566 to learn more!
