      • Operators
      • Floor handling agencies which undertake the work on behalf of the operator
      • Agencies engaged in the security screening of passengers and their baggage
      • Agencies located at the airport which perform on behalf of the operator
      • All airlines which are a party to the IATA Multilateral Interline Agreement

      • Freight forwarders

What IATA Training Means for You

Federal regulations state that no entity or person is able to send or receive dangerous goods through the air unless they are classified in the proper manner.

Employees handling dangerous goods are responsible under the IATA DGR guidelines.  If you are involved in transporting hazardous materials within the US, you must be properly trained (per Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR), Subpart H).

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has employed over 100 special agents who are dedicated to searching out and ensuring compliance when it comes to hazardous material. Both the shippers and the receivers can be subject to investigations and inspections.

This means if you are not compliant you could face hazardous materials civil penalties/fines.  All and all it's a costly mistake to not be properly trained when it comes it IATA.
