PHMSA Wants to Hear From You Before International DG Meetings

Hazardous materials transportation is like a big international web of multinational organizations and governances who affect one another. When one makes a change a domino effect occurs affecting transporters across the world. This year, the UN Sub-Committee of Experts in the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UNSCOE TDG) plans to meet two times this year (June 27-July 6 and November 28-December 6). Not to be left behind, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) plans to meet November 21-25th this year as well. It should be noted, most of these revisions and proposals will be incorporated into the 2024 and 2025 editions of the regulations.

Topics to be covered during the UNSCOE meeting will include:

      • Hazardous materials/dangerous goods classifications, packing, and listings
      • Proposed amendments to Model Regulations
      • Lithium Batteries; and
      • Gases and more

To keep in step with the rest of the world, The Department of Transportation (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) plans to hold virtual meetings two weeks prior to each of the UNSCOE meetings to gather input from industry professionals on the rules being proposed.

And that’s where you come in! If you have something to say about the proposed rules, PHMSA wants to hear from you! You can find out more about those details HERE!In the meantime, if you’re looking for industry leading hazardous materials transportation training, don’t wait to check out our catalog of course for all the most popular modes of transportation.
