EPA’s Third RCRA e-Manifest Rule Finalized
3 of 3
In its third and final rule of three as it relates to the e-manifest system, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will require both large and small quantity generators to create online accounts in the RCRAInfo Portal at RCRAInfo.EPA.gov to access all hazardous waste shipments and manifest related reports regardless of destination.
The final rule, which is set to take effect January 22, 2025, is just around the corner which means hazardous waste generators need to make their accounts sooner than later. In addition to the already above-mentioned requirements this new final rule also requires:
- Changes to the hazardous waste export and import shipment to align more closely with international movement documents.
- Changes to manifest regulations for shipments exported for treatment, storage, and disposal.
- Finalization to manifest related reports.
- Fixing technical corrections related to typographical errors; and
- Requires exporters to pay a fee along with submissions to the e-manifest system.
