DOJ Creates New Office to Help Environmental Enforcement
Have You Heard of the OEJ?
What feels like breaking news may have slipped under the radar of many. On May 5, 2022, The U.S. Attorney General (AG) Merrick Garland announced the creation of a new Office to help enforce environmental justice for all. The Attorney General intends to accomplish this task through the inception of the Office of Environmental Justice (EOJ) within the Department of Justice (DOJ) to “guide the Justice Department’s work” in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
In order to help the EOJ accomplish their tasks, the DOJ also issued an Interim Final Rule that “will restore the use of supplemental environmental projects in appropriate circumstances..” For a deeper look at all the new proposed concepts they can be found in the links below:
