      IATA 65th Edition: What You Need to Know

      Significant Changes and Amendments

      Can you believe its almost 2024 and the 65th Edition of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) is set to take effect January 1, 2024! Within this new edition of the IATA DGR, you will find all amendments and addenda made by the IATA Dangerous Goods Board and the addenda issued by ICAO for the 2023-2024 Technical Instructions (TI). What is discussed below is not a full comprehensive list of the changes, but more so a quick reference guide for users to identify significant changes presented in this edition.

      Within the 65th Edition you will find changes and revisions to:

      2. Limitations

      • Dangerous goods Carried by Passenger or Crew
      • State Variation
      • Operator Variations

      5. Packing

      • 5.2.0.9- Has been amended to identify that non-refillable cylinders containing a flammable gas are limited to a water capacity not exceeding 1.25 L.
      • PI952
      • PI954

      6. Packing Specifications and Performance Tests

      • 6.0.3—Clarification to the requirements and format for UN specification marks on packages.

      7. Marking and Labeling

      • Marking of Overpacks

      8. Documentation

      • A new note has been added to 8.1.6.9.2. Step 6 subparagraph (a)

      10. Radioactive Materials

      • 10.8.3.9.1
      • 10.8.6
