Mike Alston

Mr. Alston is a highly accomplished transportation operations and compliance manager with over 30 years of experience in regulatory affair and supply chain management; including: logistics & distribution, transportation auditing, transloading & terminal operations, as well as barge, rail, motor carrier safety and operating practices. His special expertise is in the handling, safety, security and regulatory compliance of hazardous materials, and he provides comprehensive program management and consultation services for DOT, IATA, IMDG, USCG, EPA, OSHA, and TDG regulations to all of our clients.

Mike spent his career with Sunoco, Inc. and its predecessor, Aristech Chemical Co.  More recently Mike was Global Hazmat Manager for Westinghouse Nuclear. He developed and implemented regulatory training programs for DOT, IATA, TDG-Canada, USCG-PIC, and Hazardous Waste Manifesting, as well as audit programs to qualify motor carriers, bulk liquid terminals, transportation cleaning facilities and railcar repair facilities to ensure performance and compliance with regulations and company standards. He also developed and implemented Hazardous Material (HM-232) Security Plans. In his career, Mike was charged with the duty to train, implement and oversee Carrier and Terminal Audit Programs and lead Marine Transportation Security Act (MTSA) and Rail Security Enhancement programs. His professional certifications include DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations, RCRA Training, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, United States Coast Guard PIC Training, and ISO 9001:2000 internal auditing.

Mike earned a BS in Logistics Management and an MBA from Robert Morris University. Mike is also certified as a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM). He holds certifications in DOT, IATA, IMDG, TDG-Canada, RCRA, and is a certified Facility Security Officer (FSO). Mike is certified in radiological ships for DOT and IATA. Moreover, Mike is a tank car and tank truck specialist. Mike conducts training in all disciplines, with special emphasis in Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S), as well as Security consulting.
