      DOT’s New ANPRM

      Welcome To The 21st  Century

Have you ever gone somewhere and they only take cash or check? It’s kind of dumbfounding in today’s technologically advanced world. When you think about it, we can pay with our card, our phone, and even bitcoin now at some places. So, it’s always surprising when we continue to do something in such an archaic manner simply because “that’s the way it’s always been done.”

Thankfully the Department of Transportation (DOT) has said “no more, living in the past” with their latest Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) which seeks public input on the economic and practical lessons learned from other agencies and organizations that have utilized similar electronic systems for workplace drug and alcohol testing. Currently, the only electronic form used by the DOT is the Federal Drug Testing Custody and Control Form(electronic CCF) which has been approved by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

It is their hope that adoption of such as system will continue to maintain confidentiality
requirements for such sensitive information, while simultaneously providing more flexibility and reducing costs for the industry. To comment on the ANPRM, all comments must be submitted and received on or before the October 4, 2022 deadline. For a more in-depth look at the ANPRM, click HERE NOW!
